LEARNING SCHEDULE
Sample Lesson
Every session looks different because every child has unique needs and goals. As your child's needs and goals change, so will the concepts covered in their sessions. However, every lesson incorporates multisensory techniques and is based on the Orton Gillingham approach. Here is a sample lesson sequence to give you an idea of how we structure sessions to optimize student growth.

Part 1: Drills, Review and Explicit Instruction

Letter sound drills, sight words, blending sound drills, and explicit instruction and introduction of new skill.
Part 2: Reading Words

Reading words and sentences while applying and practicing the new learned skill

Part 3: Writing
-
This sequential process begins with listening to spoken sounds and writing the letters for those sounds. This increases to writing words based on the sound/pattern learned that tutoring lesson or in previous lessons. It culminates with writing sentences using the words and patterns learned.

Part 4: Guided reading

In this portion of the lesson students focus on applying the phonics patterns they have learned to decoding or sounding out words in passages based on their unique interests on their specific reading level.

Part 5: Review Games and Additional Activities

Reading and writing of sight words, Phonological Awareness or Phonemic Awareness games, fluency practice, grammar instruction, etc.
